THE OCEAN

The Ocean is an attempt to push adaptive re-use to the hilt. What was once 100 linear feet of drop curb driveway, eschewing bikes or pedestrians in favor of cars to be fit with new tires, is now a burgeoning outdoor public dining patio. A building once filled with tires now houses 4 micro restaurants sharing the ethos and entrepreneurial spirit of food carts, now with indoor seating and clean services in lieu of blue tarps and port-a-potties. Tenants include James Beard winner and another semifinalist, each in a 550 sq.ft. micro restaurant. A once unremarkable corner of Portland has been transformed into a vibrant community hub.  It is located directly adjacent to The Shore, another collaboration with Guerrilla Development, containing larger retail, restaurant and commercial kitchen tenants.
