HAN OAK RESTAURANT
Han Oak is a novel concept in Portland: a Live-Work restaurant. The client is a renowned chef who moved into the residential loft within The Ocean, a complex that Brett Schulz and Guerrilla Development designed and built in 2012. The client asked us to renovate the loft so that he could cook a reservations-only dinner for 20-30 guests, and still have room to live within the loft with his family. We worked closely with city officials to determine the proper demising line between "living" and "working" within the loft, and fully upgraded the kitchen and bathroom from residential to commercial dining establishment standards. The result is a spectacular new addition to the Portland dining scene. Photos by Grace Rivera, Aaron Lee and Kari Young.
